I Want to Stop Smoking
We can help you to stop smoking. Anyone who lives, works
or studies in Islington can register for our free stop smoking
support programme. Click

details of new clinics.
Stopping smoking is a significant lifestyle change. Some smokers
feel a real sense of loss when they stop smoking, even if they are
excited about the benefits of being smokefree. Accepting this loss
can feel like a bereavement for some long-time smokers. So,
it's important to give yourself time to adjust and don't be
disheartened if you struggle. We can support you through this
process.
We offer a non-judgmental, supportive service by trained advisors.
You will not be required to quit on the first day you see the
advisor! Before you quit, we always take time to help you prepare
for your new smokefree life and provide you with expert advice.
Alternatively you can attend our clinics or groups in 338-346 Goswell
Road (Angel) and Partnership
Primary Care Centre (Holloway).
- You can join our lunchtime
and evening clinics at any
time. You can attend the clinic for up to eight weeks. You may see
the advisor on one-to-one basis or together with other people,
depending on how busy the clinic is on the day.
- A stop smoking group
will be the same people every week for seven weeks. You need to
join at the start of the group. Stopping smoking with other people
can be a great motivator. You are all working towards the same
goal and can support each other. These groups are your best
chance to quit - in fact you are four times more likely to quit
successfully if you join a group.
Whichever way you want to quit, the NHS in Islington is here to
help. Give us a call on 0800 093 9030 or e-mail us at stop-smoking-islington.whitthealth@nhs.net.
It's free!
